One of the hallmarks of a great leader is the ability to judge people on an equal basis and to subsequently nurture individuals with a team to reach their highest potential.
To help you attain the right balance and ensure you aren’t holding any preconceived views which may cloud your judgement, I have included 3 principles below, which will help you to keep your thinking along the right tracks.
Imagine being able to make the right decisions, every time you judge a person and their abilities to help you with your goals?
Wouldn’t this have an immense impact on your team building success in ensuring you have the right people performing the right tasks?
The following content will help you to channel your thinking in the right way.
- The Leadership Judgement Challenge
- Setting Standards
- Never Underestimate Anyone
1. The Leadership Judgement Challenge
When making a fair assessment of someone and their capabilities in relation to your requirements, it is important for you not to project any of your own negative tendencies or views onto the other person.
A very simple way to ensure you remain neutral and objectively assess whoever is in front of you is to, first of all, take up the leadership judgement challenge.
The challenge is not only a powerful tool to keep yourself in check, it’s also a fun exercise to practice on a daily basis for your own personal growth.
It goes as follows…. today, do not allow a single bad thought to enter your mind. If it does, acknowledge its presence and allow it to leave straight away.
It doesn’t matter who has done or said anything to you, today become a steadfast leader and take full control of your mind.
No bad thoughts, no harmful words, no jealousy, no putting down other people.
Just keep your inner sanctum clean, pure and beautiful.
Only the brave leader can accept such a challenge, for the weak minded will cave into constant pettiness.
You up for it?
If so, sending all my blessings, if not, sending you even more blessings.
Once you adopt this challenge into your daily routine, you will become so much more powerful in the abilities to fairly judge another person, and thus make much better decisions for your business and overall success.
2. Setting Standards
Throughout the years I have always set impeccably high standards for myself, not just with my actions, but also my thoughts, attitude, beliefs, behaviour and indeed everything you can possibly imagine.
I ensure every aspect of my being is in my total alignment with my true inner self, and to be honest, it’s the single biggest reason why I am always happy with life.
However, in my meditation today, I was reminded of an extremely valuable lesson, and that was to never impose my standards on others.
Whenever you judge them, you should immediately realise that the problem is never with the other person, but indeed your own expectations for them to be living their higher self all the time.
Just because we may demand that level of standard for ourselves, it shouldn’t be something we ever ask of others.
Everyone is going through their own journey and is so important in the spiritual path to respect exactly where everyone is.
We all come from perfection and indeed all are ultimately heading towards perfection.
What route we each take as individuals are of no concern to anyone else, and thus we simply need to remain steadfast on our own path, whilst honouring everyone else with theirs.
This wisdom was such a powerful reminder of something of all of us already know, but I still couldn’t keep myself from sharing this with you all straight away.
3. Never Underestimate Anyone
When I was 14, I used to help run this London inner city summer scheme where we kept a lot of troubled teenagers (much older than me) off the streets and away from trouble.
Still, the amount of time I had to deal with the police, gangsters, the law etc to keep these boys out of mischief was an experience in itself!!
A couple of days back in the temple (for our festival) I bumped into a few of my boys from back then (something like 20 odd years later!), now they are all married, settled, kids running around and proud members of their community doing so much to inspire others.
Felt so proud of them, just goes to show, never judge anyone by their current circumstances. I have been so blessed to have been supported and nurtured my whole life, not everyone has these same privileges.
Anyone can be a champion in this world, sometimes all it takes is one person to believe in them, and that’s all the inspiration and motivation they need.
Always be mindful when assessing others, if they have fallen onto a stray path, you will be amazed how quick and easy it is to help them get back to where they belong. In reality, the way we see others is the way we truly see ourselves.
Practice only seeing beauty and opportunities for you to grow when you judge others, then you may just be amazed how wonderful this life really is!
Keeping A Balanced View
Reviewing the above 3 principles, will ensure you keep your thinking balanced when judging others and their abilities to contribute to your goals.
By keeping your mind in a positive non-complaining mode, you will instantly get rid of any negativity tendencies of yours which you may be portraying onto another person.
By accepting everyone on the merits of where they are right now, you will begin to fully appreciate people for who they really are, and not merely what you expect them to be.
Finally, by keeping an open mind and not underestimating anyone, you begin to truly look beyond what is presented in front of you, and open the possibilities to the greatness that lies within us all.
These 3 components in tandem will help you to make better leadership decisions when it comes to judging others and then building your teams.
